Being aware of how brilliant Vestards is in this field of music, we are looking forward with great interest to his performance of the work by the grand master of ostinated minimalism Philip Glass — opus Mad Rush, simple as earth and enchanting in its endlessness, which was written in 1979 in honour of the visit by Dalai Lama to the USA, and “Five Piano Pieces Without Pedals” by the Latvian composer Artūrs Grīnups, which have been created as a protest of the sharp-tongued composer against the habit of pianists to play music “in a pedal sauce”.
The contemporary music by Glass and Grīnups will be balanced by the last piano sonata by Franz Schubert (in B Flat Major, D 960) which had been written a few months before the great Viennese master passed away.
