Qualification game of European Men’s Basketball Championship: Latvia – Georgia

The core of the candidates consists of ten players who obtained valuable experience and hardiness in games with European basketball powers last year in the final tournament of European Championship in Šiauliai. From this composition Jānis Blūms and Mareks Jurevičs will not play, however, Kaspars Bērziņš has returned to the national team.

Up to now, Mārtiņš Laksa, Oto Ošenieks, Pāvels Pastušeņa, and Kaspars Vecvagars did not have any experience in games of the national team. Some of U20 team leaders who will successfully play in the U20 European Championship might supplement the list of debutants.

“In previous years we showed that we can play well. Now it is time to replace the beautiful defeats with valuable victories,” one of the potential team leaders Jānis Strēlnieks with his teammates are determined to continue the positive tendencies in development of the national team.
