Riga Airport Starts the Year with an Impressive Increase of 12.2% in Passenger Figures
Operational data on the Airport performance in January 2020 show that Riga Airport has started the year 2020 with an increase of 12.2% in passenger numbers.
A total of 524.4 thousand passengers were handled at the Airport during the first month of 2020, which is 12.2% more than in January 2019. This includes a 17.3% increase in transfer passengers - in January almost 142 thousand passengers chose Riga Airport as a convenient transfer point to their destinations throughout Europe and Asia.
6.5 thousand flights were handled in the first month of the year, which is 4.1% more than in January 2019. Cargo volumes at Riga Airport grew by almost 3% compared to the first month of the previous year.
As reported before, Riga Airport closed the year 2019 with a record number of passengers - last year more than 7.8 million passengers were handled at Riga Airport, which is an increase of 10.5% as compared to the year before.
Riga Airport is a fast-growing Northern European air traffic hub. The 20 airlines operating at Riga Airport offer more than 70 destinations in the winter season and more than 100 in the summer season. Riga Airport served more than 7.8 million passengers in 2019. The Cirius study has recognized Riga Airport as the fourth most punctual airport in the world in 2019.
